Time management.
It may or may not be a problem for you now, but going off to college could bring some major problems to your time managing. Getting a handle on it now could potentially help you in the future.
I recently found an article that provides some insight with 10 different tips to keeping yourself organized and managing your time in school. Although this is centered on school, it has many tips that can be used for any situation.
Even though some of them seem obvious, it is hard to fully commit yourself to get the most out of all of your time every day.
“Use your free time wisely”-One of the most important, yet most difficult things to do. It is so much easier spending any free time relaxing or doing something you really want to do, especially if you had a busy day. The article mentions taking “bits” of free time to study or look at flashcards. In a use other than for school work, it is important to look ahead to other activities that will need to be done and see if you can work ahead. It may not seem like the best thing to do but it will possibly give you more free time when you really need it later.
“Prioritize your assignments”- You may not have any school work at that moment but this can be used for your everyday tasks also. Prioritizing each of the tasks that you have for the day or even the whole week can be beneficial to your schedule. Knowing when they need to be completed, which ones are more important, and how long they may take you is vital so that you are not entirely overburdened at one time.
“Achieve ‘stage one’—get something done!”- I consider this to be one of the largest parts of managing time because it is one of the biggest challenges for me. I always think to myself that I can start it later, thinking I will have time. However, there are always things that you can’t account for so it is imperative that you push yourself in order to get the ball rolling. Then you will be done before you know it and have free time without having to worry about work to be done later.
Check out some of the other tips from the article to find some other ideas on how to get the best out of your time. They could be helpful when you find yourself having a lack of it.
